Many suppliers of temporary protection materials cannot claim that their products are properly certified to the very important LPS 1207 standard, to have materials conforming to this we have to pay a large fee per year, it is not free

If you have materials that are NOT LPS 1207 approved then you will very probably void all insurances. Its easy to see if your materials conform to this, as they HAVE to have the approved LPS logo stamped on the product, simple as that.

LPS 1207 Information

What is LPS 1207?

LPS 1207 is the standard for Protective Covering Materials issued by the Loss Prevention Certification Board with the support of The Association of British Insurers, The Chief and Assistant Chief Fire Officer's Association and the London Fire Brigade

Where the internal finished surfaces or fittings on a construction site are to be protected by flexible or rigid covering materials, these must conform to the requirements of the standard, LPS 1207

How to identify if a material meets LPS 1207

The relevant approval mark together with the manufacturer's certificate number and the fact that the product satisfies LPS 1207 must be printed on the material. If a temporary protection material is not marked with its LPCB certificate number, then it is simply not approved and does not meet the standard, LPS 1207

Who does the standard affect?

This standard affects the company who is responsible for the insurance of the project, even if the protection package has been handed over to a sub-contractor. Failure to comply with the standard could result in uninsured losses
